Virginia Chapter of HIMSS Scholarship

The Virginia Chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is pleased to announce a new scholarship for a student of health information technology or informatics. Virginia HIMSS Chapter established this scholarship to promote the development of emerging leaders in health information technology management. Virginia student members are all encouraged to apply for the scholarship. 

The amount of the scholarship is $5,000 and is given annually. In addition to the $5,000 scholarship award, the winner will also receive an all-expense paid trip to the Awards Gala at the Annual HIMSS Conference and Exhibition. (Some restrictions may apply.)  Virginia Chapter Scholarship recipients are appointed to the Student Liaison role on the Chapter Board.

Applicants for the Virginia Chapter Scholarship must fulfill these minimum requirements:

  • The applicant must be a member in good standing of HIMSS
  • The applicant must be a member of National HIMSS and the Virginia Chapter
  • The applicant must be attending a school in Virginia
  • Applicants must be attending classes at the time the scholarship is awarded at any Virginia accredited college/university related to healthcare, the management of information systems and affiliated professions. Attendance can be part or full time but should be part of a formalized program that leads to a specific degree in the associated field.
  • Applicants must submit a resume.
  • Applicants must be willing to actively participate as a Student Liaison to the Chapter Board if selected.
  • Previous Foundation Scholarship winners are ineligible.
